Lemmings, lemmings, lemmings, what a sad sort they are. The sad thing is that I bet that well over half the folks that wind up in corporate tool jobs had such higher ambitions for themselves when they entered, or completed, college. I am sure that more than your fair share of pie-eyed political science majors, artists, computer whizzes, scientists and the like end up in the corporate doldrums simply because they seek that most wonderful of all-American dreams--money. After all, isn't that what it's all about? As a society we value money more than anything else. That is why we pay athletes millions of dollars, but find our soldiers homeless in the streets.

If people would wake up, ignore the advertisements and fancy corporate slogans, and see exactly how screwed they are, I think they might ditch the corporate culture, but of course that would also entail ridding themselves of the second great American pastime, that of accumulating stuff. As a former stuff-accumulator extraordinaire, I understand how hard it can be, but if you are willing to get off the corporate grid so to speak, it is a very liberating experience. I for one was tired of being a slave to corporate America and it’s ultimate pursuit of greed. I say to hell with them, and so can anyone else, but I think it takes a leap of faith that few are brave enough to make. When I left my former job I was well on my way to making $100,000/year, now I will be lucky to see even half of that again. Yet, at the end of the day, I couldn’t be happier doing something that I love to do and knowing that my efforts are not being wasted on making some fat-cat-pompous-windbag-who-couldn't-pour-piss-out-of-a boot-if-the-directions-were-printed-on-the-heel, look good so that they can earn all the accolades.
